Review of Mr. Right (2016) by Amanda C — 12 Oct 2016
If you can get past the fact that Sam Rockwell is way too old to be romantically paired with Anna Kendrick, Mr. Right is a fast and fun dark comedy. It is nonsensical and spends a fair bit of its runtime stumbling, but Kendrick and Rockwell take it in stride squeezing out every drop of their inherent likablity and using that to fill out their performances.
The end result is that it doesn't matter that Rockwell's reverse hit man is deranged and dangerous and Kendrick's Martha is lonely and desperate with a hidden talent for catching knives in mid-air.
By the end, they are both certifiably insane and most definatly twisted, but the casting makes you root for them.
