Review of Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) by Cassie H — 04 Dec 2011
Tom Popper (Carrey) is a business man who is basically too busy to spend time with his ex-wife, Amanda (Carla Gugino) or his kids, Janie (Madeline Carroll) and Billy (Maxwell Perry Cotton). When Tom was a kid he rarely ever saw his dad, as his father was an explorer of the great world.
When his father suddenly dies he decides to give Tom a gift...a penguin. Soon he gets another shipment of 5 penguins and from there the madness really takes off. He has continue to pay the clerk in the building where he lives to pretend that he doesn't see the penguins & he also has to keep them out of harms way from a mean zoo keeper, Nat Jones (Clark Gregg).
Tom also has to please his boss, Franklin, (Philip Baker Hall). (You might remember him as Jim Carrey's boss in Bruce Almighty.) What starts off as frustration towards these adorable animals turns into love.
Mr. Popper's Penguins is a classic, and a heartwarming, adorable movie, that is perfect for all ages.
