Review of Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) by Dave L — 04 Jan 2012
What has happened to Jim Carrey's career? Here he is, stuck in a Manhattan high rise with 6 pet penguins delivered to him by his dad who was never really a big part of his life. The plot is predictable as soon as the lovable Artic pets enter the scene.
And the story has some overly dumb parts. I guess the whole thing is meant to be adorable family fun. The penguins (I read CGI and real life ones) are certainly adorable. Jim Carrey does sneak some funny lines in.
The formulaic script and flat out absurdity keep this from being recommended. Well..maybe for kids only.
