Review of Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) by Matt C — 18 Nov 2012
Not the best jim carrey film he's ever done.
A very weak story and ridiculous, unrealistic set up where he inherits penguins from an adventurous dad who he never saw.
It plays a little like Snow White, with the penguins playing like the seven dwarfs, each having their own personality which adds to the unbelievabity of it all.
It also plays a lot like another film he made, liar, liar with the same kind of life story. Successful job, divorced and unreliable relationship with his son.
Carrey trys his best to get the laughs, but overall it's a very weak family film with very few laughs and story you just don't care about.
