Review of Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) by Katherine R — 15 Feb 2013
"Mr. Popper's Penguins" is absolutely harmless, to the point that it struggles to be interesting. There is no real sense of urgency or drama due to the shoehorned villain (which this movie did not need) and when the main character's life goes off the rails because of his love for a group of penguins that are suddenly dropped onto his doorstep you'll be thinking to yourself "well, duh!".
As a family film, there's really no reason to choose this over anything else, but if you are stuck watching it, you won't be offended. (Blu-ray, February 2012).
