Review of Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) by Wyland C — 10 Nov 2013
When I first saw this trailer in the movie theaters I thought this movie was going to be horrible. I came in with low expectations but was proved wrong. The life of a businessman begins to change after he inherits six penguins, and as he transforms his apartment into a winter wonderland, his professional side starts to unravel.
What I did like. The movie was surprisingly pretty funny. I laughed quite a bit. One very funny joke was when Jim Carrey's daughter was texting instead of hanging out with her family. Carrey tells her in a funny voice "OMG I'm too SAD to hang out with DAD". I also liked the characters including the penguins. It was also a lot of fun and a great family movie.
What I didn't like. I did think the plot was predictable. I thought they could of did a better job with that. Also some things were a little cheesy and stupid.
Overall Mr. Popper's Penguins is surprisingly funny and much better than it seemed.
