My father was a huge fan of the original Mr. Peabody and Sherman cartoons, which were a part of the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, and so I was glad to see these characters making a comeback for a new generation.

Having said that, the whole concept of a dog raising a boy was always extremely far-fetched (pardon the pun!) even for a cartoon. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the film, or if my kids would even enjoy it for that matter!

I could have put my fears to rest, however, because the film was highly entertaining and well-constructed. If you're going to buy into a highly educated speaking dog with a boy, then why not throw in a little time machine action as well?

If you allow your imagination to run wild with the story, then I guarantee lots of laughs and a successful family film night.
