Review of Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014) by Nathan K — 06 Oct 2014
The movie Mr. Peabody and Sherman starts out with a brainy literate dog, Mr. Peabody, which has graduated from Harvard and has created a countless number of inventions. He has even won custody of an orphan boy, Sherman, he found. Mr. Peabody and Sherman is an excellent, action-packed, adventurous movie good for the whole family.
Mr. Peabody and Sherman started out in an animated television show in the 60s. The director Rob Minkoff along with and old friend Jason Clark created the screen play for many years. It was finally released March 7, 2014. There are many things that make this movie exciting. Some of which include that the characters within for the most part or well-educated but are not afraid to have fun. This gives the audience a feel of excitement. Another thing that makes the movie great is its use of characters a dog and his boy. This image is inverted in our minds because we always are used to seeing dogs as the pet.
Throughout the film they use one of Mr. Peabody's inventions. It is a Time Machine called the "Way Back." They travel through historical events learning about the past with little to no trouble. That is until Sherman gets in a fight at school. To avoid charges Mr. Peabody invites the family who was involved over for dinner. Little does he know Sherman will disobey him and show Penny, the girl he got in a fight with, the Way Back. Together Sherman and Penny visit ancient Egypt where Penny gets engaged to King Tut and refuses to go back to her current time period. Sherman then has to get Mr. Peabody to talk her into going back. After some convincing she decides to go back with them as they flee from Tuts warriors. Shockingly there is not enough power in the Time Machine for them to make it back. This forces them to make a stop in the Renaissance where they ask Leonardo da Vinci to help create a machine to power the Way Back. With the way back powered up they had back home just to run into more trouble. A large black hole forms and it there is an intense struggle not to be pulled in. Once released they are flung into the battle of Troy. Amongst The battle Mr. Peabody and Sherman have to rescue Penny who is trapped in the Trojan horse. Penny is saved but Mr. Peabody is lost off the edge of a cliff. Sherman then goes back to a time when Mr. Peabody existed so that he can fix the troubled situation. I give this movie a five out of five star review.
