Review of Mr. Moto Takes a Chance (1938) by Brad G — 07 Sep 2010
"How do you work this thing?" "Just pull the trigger!" Ratt-A-Tatt-Tatt!!!! Despite another great turn from Peter Lorre as the brilliant, but nonplussed genius detective, Mr. Moto Takes A Chance is only a so-so entry in the series.
Robert Kent and Chick Chandler as the American newsreel team get far too much screen time and Rochelle Hudson's mysterious pilot is nowhere near as interesting as the movie wants you to believe. Still, Lorre's Moto is always a treat and this film does offer one of his better master disguises.
