Review of Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (2007) by Makala M — 20 Jun 2009
When I read about it, I immediatley thought of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. It is somewhat a mix between CatCF and Night at the Museum.
Molly Mahoney is the insecury manager of the great Mr Magoruim's Wonder Emporium the strangest, most fantastic, most wonderful toy store in the world. Owned by the eccentric 243 year old Mr. Magoruim. When he announces that he is "Going Away" and "The Mutant" an socially akward accauntant shows up not even the store seems to be able to keep it's magic.
It is a brilliant kids-movie. Filled with magic, great characters and anything your imagnination could possibly come up with. Dustin Hoffman is absolutley great as is Natalie Portman. Jason Bateman shines as The Mutant and Zack Mills is just adorable as Eric. And together they are even greater and they truly work great as a cast.
The story itself is slightly predictable and well you really can relate to Charllie and the Chocolate factory alot. And to me the ending was rather anti-climax. But it is an enjoyable watch and very cute.
