Review of Mr. Holmes (2015) by Kriss T — 19 Jun 2015
Slow, dull and lacks and real drama, tension or stakes. It is a film that would suit a Sunday evening cuddles up on the sofa rather than a big screen outing that will fail to capture audience attentions.
The narrative has the ability to go dark and tense but fails to do so and instead meanders to an unsatisfying conclusion. McKellen is perfectly fine as the aging Detective but during the many flashbacks he doesnt appear to be a true Sherlock considering the reincarnations we have already seen.
Don't see if you are expectinng the Sherlock you have been watching recently because this is a much different version that may disappoint.
