Sherlock is retired and no one believes it's him. Poor Watson created a caricature of him and now that's what people want. It's both the story of him and the story of the house keepers son who idolizes Sherlock and wants to be a better person because of him.
There are several stories going on at once in this and It does a good job of keeping you interested in all of them.
