Review of Mr. Holland's Opus (1995) by Elizabeth C — 14 May 2013
@Randy Tippy - If you watch it again, he doesn't actually kiss her on the lips, but on the cheek. Mr. Holland knew that there could never be anything between him and Rowena, but he didn't want her to stop chasing after her dream.
Now I'm not going to be naive and say there wasn't an attraction between the two, but their reason for the attraction were very different. Overall this movie inspires people to realize that life can take you places where you never intended to be, but if you let it, can be just as rewarding as if you were living your dream.
This is one of my favorite movies of Richard Dreyfus along with the movie "Always", and one of my favorite movies of all time.
