Review of Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) by Tyler D — 09 Jan 2011
Frank Capra's idealism is something I have cherished for ever since I watched Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. The warmth and idealism of Capra's films is more special today because it is sorely missing from cinema these days, especially art-house cinema.
This is a simple film about a naive, young man who finds himself in the unusual position of a rich millionaire in a big town full of opportunist, selfish and greedy people. This is an absolutely pleasure to watch and a must see for all lovers of cinema.
