I'm mystified and even a bit angry. It's puzzling how Frank Capra can put his magic touch on a corny plot and make it wonderful. This is really just a shallow feel-good film at the core but it's so charming and funny it's completely irresistable. Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur were never better.
Adam Sandler's remake isn't as bad as people make it out to be, and it's enjoyable enough on its own terms. But please don't compare it to this version; they're poles apart.
