Review of Mr. Deeds (2002) by Paul S — 06 Jan 2015
This has many good jokes and gags. I like Adam's performance in this one. I like the concept of the story, but I don't feel that it was well executed. John Turturro's performance stands out as very memorable and funny.
Wynona's performance can best be described as phony. There's a certain giggly annoying way that lots of women act like, and I think it's positively phony. Some women act like normal people and don't do the phony giggly annoying thing, but not Wynona.
I've seen her act more normally but not in this. This is pretty harsh, but she way over acted her role at many moments. It's so phony that it makes me realize that it's just a movie and I can't suspend in disbelief to enjoy it.
I saw this a long time ago but couldn't remember any of it. I wanted to watch it again and I'm glad I did, but that is probably the last time. The last annoyance was getting sent the DVD with no widescreen format.
I had to watch it in 4:3 which is totally LAME!
