If Capra's beloved film had never existed, this movie would have been a little more respectable. The slapstick humor and half thought out plot are average at best, but Adam Sandler charms as small town Longfellow Deeds.
The scenes with John McEnroe and John Turturro are the highlights in a movie that ended up being better than I expected.
