Review of Mr. Brooks (2007) by Bob M — 19 May 2010
Dear Dane Cook, please stop "acting". You aren't very good at it and you ruin sub-par movies. Really. It's not novel or cute anymore, so just stop.
Now, back to my review. This movie is very mediocre. The film had a lot of potential, but ultimately fails. While this film tries to be a psychological thriller, there isn't much to fear here. Kevin Costner, plays a serial killer, called the Thumbprint Killer, and is inspired to "kill again" thanks to his id (a la 'Fight Club'), who is played by William Hurt. Dane Cook is a blackmailer who tries to extort Costner through a series of pictures that show him killing a couple. Demi Moore gives a poor performance as the cop investigating the Thumbprint Killer, which was about on par with the rest of the characters. Some other pointless crap happens and Dane Cook gets brutally murdered by being beaten with a shovel, which finally shuts him up. Costner has a dream that he gets stabbed and then the movie is over. While there are many other worse films to waste your time on, I suggest you skip this and watch "Zodiac" or "Dirty Harry" or "Silence of the Lambs" if you want a good psychopathic murder movie.
