Review of Mr. Brooks (2007) by Bill C — 10 Sep 2010
Kevin Costner tries a hand as a part time "Hanibal Lecter". Costner is a successful business man who is well respected for his civic duty. He has a beautiful wife Marg Helgenberger(CSI). He slips out at night to carefully studies and kill people to serve his alter personality.
I is an interesting choice of William Hurt as his evil alter ego. Demi Moore is the independently wealthy woman who chooses to be a detective that has one case and it tracking Costner Down. Costner is accidentally photographed in the progress of a murder by Dane Cook.
Dane Cook tracks him down and tries to convince Costner to train him as a successful serial killer. Later in the movie he learns that his daughter is also a serial killer. Although the acting is excellent the motivation of the characters is always unwell defined.
The choice of Hurt as the dark side is brilliant, but it would have been better if they would have left out Costner's little orgasmic fits after each murder.
