Review of Mozart and the Whale (2005) by Churchill Y — 12 Jun 2007
Mozart and the Whale was a deeper look into the lives of two people with Asperger's Syndrome. It was not a fluffy piece where the couple got together right away. They went through trials, and yet in the end saw that love really does conquer all.
The surprising thing in this movie (to me) was Josh Hartnett's performance. He has always been a okay performer in my book, but in this movie, he stole the show. I truly believed that he was Donald-a person who, yes, has autism, but had feelings just like the rest of us and simply wants to be understood.
Radha did a good job too, although not as good as she did in Finding Neverland. Her perfomance was a tad shaky. Overall, the film was fantastic. I went and bought the book after I watched it, and can't wait to read it!
