Review of Moulin Rouge! (2001) by Drew B — 22 Jan 2013
I love it. I enjoyed the music, the story, the characters. from one end to the other it was stunning.
HOWEVER.
The cinematography was this passive/realism act that completely stripped the music and songs of their grandeur. Crescendos and swells were wasted as the camera stayed static and stoic. That had such a detrimental affect on my experience, I wanted to sucker punch Baz.
