Review of Moulin Rouge! (2001) by Kaylla A — 01 Aug 2013
If you're looking for a beautifully done artistic romance movie, you have found your gem. Although it's considered a musical, the actors deliver a quirky comedic relief to this truly tragic shakespearean like love story.
The strong portrayal each actor gives to their character makes it that much more memorable. The musical numbers are actually sung by the actors, which is rare to find with the amount of voiceovers we experience these days.
The songs are very refreshing and unique to each scene. They collaborate popular hit songs from over the years to produce immaculate medleys that are powerfully presented in every way possible. The strong yearn for another's affection, really reflects the journey of finding an unconventional person to claim as your lover.
Christian and Satine's love is so precious that it stands by the movie's motto and stays with you mentally, "the greatest thing you will ever learn, is just to love, and to be loved in return".
