Review of Mother's Day (1980) by Adam M — 09 May 2011
I heard they remade this and I was pissed off, as per usual, but after watching 'Mother's Day' again it might not be a bad idea to remake it. 'Mother's Day' is essentially the spawn of 'Last House on the Left' and 'I Spit On Your Grave' but doesn't work.
The moments of perverse humour are rare and the whole set-up fails to add a shred of suspense. The best part to the films that 'Mother's Day' tries to emulate all have great revenge scenes in the third-act but in 'Mother's Day' the revenge aspect is meager.
To say this is one of Troma's best films really isn't saying much. Sadly not the cult classic I remembered liking.
