Review of Motherhood (2009) by Gustavo G — 11 Jun 2010
It had some high moments where you can laugh at the life style of being a mother and a friend, but this film is not meant for everyone,.
Anyone who does not know what it is like to be a mother full time would not fully grab the potential of what this movie could be.
Uma Thurman as Eliza, a mother of two and a struggling writer for blogs, tries to find the 500 words of what it means to be in 'motherhood', where she ends up discovering what it means to other mothers.
I found the film to be a bit overwhelming and over depressing at times. Not every motherhood is like this. Maybe to some than most, but it almost felt like it was showing what nightmares what a mother will go through. Indeed, the outcome of all of this mess is the love one has for their child and loyal companion.
I was not impressed too much with Uma in it, considering all I can think of she has come a long way from Pulp Fiction (1994) and now she is really old enough to understand what it is like to be a mother.
