Easily among the best films I have seen this year.Karen (Annette Benning) is a physical therapist who at 14 had to give up her daughter for adoption.35 years later, Karen is still cut off and aloof from everyone,not willing to let anyone get near her.
Elizabeth ( Naomi Watts ) is the daughter she never knew.Elizabeth is a hotshot lawyer, but it's clear that she feels shortchanged by life. Control is what she prizes above all things. When Elizabeth initiates an affair with Paul ( Samuel L.
Jackson), her widower boss, it's on her terms.Elizabeth gets pregnant and goes away to have her child. Lucy (Kerry Washington),is a childless married woman who is desperate to adopt a child.This movie is about how the lives of these three woman run into each other.
A MUST watch.
