Review of Mother and Child (2009) by Se7Enth A — 06 Feb 2011
I was extremely impressed by these three leading actresses' performances in their previous work. Watts in 21 grams and The Painted Veil, Benning in American Beauty and Washington in The Last King of Scotland.
Hence I was very excited to see all of them in this movie. With a running time of over 2 hours , there is no doubt this is a slow moving film that profiles three women who are dealing with the complexities of the adoption.
We can also witness the power of the eternal cord, the unbreakable bond between mother and child. The movie unfolds slowly, taking its time to introduce us to each of the leads, their struggles, their lives.
Every scenes, pulsates with subtle emotion. Definitely a movie that most viewers especially mothers would appreciate, buoyed by uniformly great acting and complete with an enriching script.
