Review of mother! (2017) by Omar L — 01 Oct 2017
You know, if within the first two minutes you don't get that Javier Bardem's character "Him" is God, then don't worry, the Biblical imagery will manifest itself for you rather quickly.
I know what Aronofsky was trying to do, and mother! is a spiritual successor to Noah, tackling the fallibilities of religious iconography. With one part Charlie Kaufman, two parts David Lynch, and one part David Cronenberg, mother! is a college film student's wet dream come to life.
