I can appreciate the symbolism and metaphors rooted within the core of this film, but I cannot figure out what Aronofsky was trying to say with them or why he felt he needed to make it. It starts slow, ends chaotic and stays bizarre in between.
Whether this is a social commentary on the fanaticism of Christianity or just an exercise in metaphorical writing it makes only for a below average watch.
