Review of mother! (2017) by Nadjib R — 10 Dec 2017
Nothing and I mean nothing will prepare you to understand what Mother really is, granted all the symbols were laid out to be figured out but what's special about it is the fact that it is a ticking bomb of emotions and symbolism that will LITERALLY rape your mind, I honestly sat there gazing at the wall after I finished the film pondering on the meaning of it, The whole film sits on the notion of the cycle of life and how it functions, like I said nothing will prepare you for what Mother is really about, It is extremely elaborated and amazingly structured to show us that humanity is far from perfect, throughout the film we're presented with metaphors and references on what " man " did on this earth and according to the film these doings are destructive and sabotaging, it is very remarkable how it was showcased in a very surreal way, I was stunned on how abstract everything is, In very few words, Mother goes beyond bad or good in my opinion, though some of it is very flawed but it's is a larger than life experience and I very much appreciate it.
