Review of mother! (2017) by Zachary Y — 05 Jan 2018
Brilliantly disguised religous allegory that will take you through the Book of Genesis as a horror flick. Deeply creepy and maddening, the subtext of the script are likely the cause for the masses largely not understanding the film.
Allin all it makes for a slow boil psychological thriller that brilliantly illustrades mankind's pillaging and neglect of mother Earth, even using allegorical references to God's creation of Man, Caine & Abel, the tree of knowlege, great flood, plagues, birth of jesus, birth of christianity, and the crusades.
The message, though admittedly muddled, is that humanity has largely missed the point of religious teachings, and has caused war & destroyed much of the planet in the name of "god".
