Review of mother! (2017) by Miranda Z — 18 Mar 2018
An extended metaphor for art, I think? It was a very bewildering experience. I can definitely see why it wouldn't be for the mainstream. while there are a few jumpscares, this isn't the horror film I thought it would be. It's more a surreal genre-defying (see: the last series of scenes) drama, I guess.
Acting is pretty solid and you very much feel Lawrence's utter confusion at all these fucking people in the house. I just. I don't know how to rate this really.
I think that's a pretty decent recommendation to see something, though!
