A disorienting, confusing and completely overwhelming retelling of the bible, apocalypse and all. I mean that in the best of ways. Mother! is a multilayered, complex and emotional allegorical film, a true cinematic experience. Upsetitng and horrifying, it manages to touch the engaged viewer who will struggle, like it's main character, to understand what and why things happen the way they do.
Up there with Passolini's Salo, Bergman's The Seventh Seal and Villeneuve's Enemy. A must for art enthusiasts.
It's unrelenting untill it's very end when things click in place without any exposition.
Seldom do I ever feel this abused after watching a film, and like mother herself, even after everything, I want to go through it again with different eyes.
