Review of mother! (2017) by Aceshop3 — 15 Sep 2017
On-the-nose, abandons a performer in Jennifer Lawrence to play a doe-eyed five year old that strains credulity. This film is an example of art made by a director whose world-view I generally agree with—I think the allegorical idea is fascinating—but the art he eventually produced has the effect of taking an allegory and pounding you over the head with it till you scream "Stop!" or "Please!" or "No!" which is, ironically, pretty much the dialogue Lawrence is saddled with.
