Review of mother! (2017) by Ashton L — 14 Sep 2017
At first interested in the surreal story that definitely grabbed attention. That faded quickly as the movie became several long redundant nightmare/chase scenes. Loud, stressful, and dragging. Ultimately the film collapses the narrative into a neat box ruining the only thing it had going for it -the space the surreal world made for the viewer to explore meaning within.
Jennifer Lawrence gave what I thought was a nuanced performance.
