Review of mother! (2017) by Adam T — 13 Sep 2017
Reading these reviews is making me weep for humanity. How on Earth can people not actually understand the very clear symbolism in this film? I guess some people are better off watching Seth Rogan movies if they need every aspect of a film and it's story to be spoon fed to them like a child.
Sometimes you have to get your brain going if you want to understand content beyond fart jokes. Was this the best movie ever made? No, it wasn't. Was it a clear and insightful representation of the history of humans' relationship with Mother Nature and religion? Yes, definitely.
Some people might think this review is pretentious, but if you didn't understand this movie, I'm sure there is a lot about life that you don't understand. If you don't see a clear allegory of god, Mother Earth, Adam & Eve, Cain & Able, the great flood, the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus, religious factions, the destruction and exploitation of the environment, and revelations, you should rewatch this movie after learning the childhood basics of judeo-christian religions.
Again, I'm not saying this is the best movie in the world, but you have got to be really stupid to not understand at least the basis for this movie. I don't care that people don't like it, but the fact that people don't like it because they clearly don't understand it on even the most basic surface level is astounding to me.
