A strange thing to say, but this film is worse than it looks. It morphs from a kind of home invasion movie to a love story to a war movie to a cult movie, with a supernatural thing throughout and ends on that.
It's filled with objects, characters, places, design elements that practically scream meaning and metaphor except there are no referents -- lots of things which appear symbolic but of what? Well, nothing.
Some of it's really beautiful to look at and some of it is grotesque to look at but it seems to signify nothing.
