Review of Mother (2016) by Joseph W — 09 Oct 2017
The movie was painful to watch. Jennifer Lawrence was awesome as Mother Earth, but I had a real problem with Javier Bardem's role as God. He was portrayed as a selfish, cold, and flawed God. Also, the son of God dies just after birth in a horrific manner in the film, which not only is unsettling, but it discounts all of his teachings and life lessons before his ultimate sacrifice for human-kind.
To me, the film was unnecessarily gross, lacking any form of redeeming value whatsoever.
