Obviously, many people don't get it. If you have read the Bible you will understand it, but maybe not the first time you watch it.
It is simply the story of God and creation of earth. God, mother nature, Adam and Eve, Cain and Able are the main characters. The baby is Jesus and the cannibalism represents the sacrament of communion.
I don't know where the do-over's comes from because that is not a tenant of Christianity. Maybe it is part of another religion.
Once you understand what the movie is about, it makes perfect sense.
