Review of Mother (2016) by Ava A — 07 Nov 2017
This movie links the war between genders (in a literal level) and the war between creation and destruction (in a symbolic way) revolving around a central religious storyline. Being so eventful, Even though the whole movie was shot in one house you'd barely notice by the end if it.
Aronofsky makes you deeply feel the aches a woman has to deal with in her everyday life while telling a story about the battle between god, Mother Nature and it's lost souls hurting her. There's a thought a metaphor behind every shot, angle and color in the movie, which makes the audience question and engage in the thrill even more.
The main reason for poor reviews on mother is that it's not the kind of movie an average audience understands. It doesn't obey the rules, it makes you uncomfortable and it wasn't made to entertain a basic mind.
mother doesn't make you feel good; it makes you think for hours and hours after you've watched it just to connect the dots.
