Review of Mother (2016) by Emily A — 20 Dec 2017
The professional critics seem to be worried they might be accused of not being sophisticated enough to understand the multitude of metaphors. Judge for yourself if it's "too unwieldy for mainstream tastes" or if it just sucks.
Or better yet, just pass. Jennifer Lawrence has found a medium for maximum expressions of hysteria per frame. For maximum effect, you get to choose between seeing her reaction to her newborn baby being murdered and eaten by cult members and seeing her more muted reaction to Him, her husband reaching into her abdomen to removing her heart.
Or is it a mystical crystal that is a symbol for all of creation? I couldn't tell.
