Review of Mortdecai (2015) by Thomas B — 22 Jan 2015
This is a wild mess of a movie. The first half of the film is boarder line miserable but once they find themselves in the US, it gets better. That's where they find most of the actual funny humor in the film but everything before is just cringeworthy bad.
If you don't like Depp at all, this movie won't change your mind. If you like Depp enough and can live with any of his crazy character choices, you'll be fine. But this is a very love it/hate it performance.
There were way too many mustache jokes and too many dumb sexual jokes but I applaud them for going all in on the physical humor they are very well choreographed. Gwyneth Paltrow is good with what she is working with, She really hid some of the crappy dialogue well with her acting.
So it's not worth paying the ticket price but if you ran into this movie on cable mid way through, that's probably your best option,.
