Review of Mortdecai (2015) by Bill R — 12 Jun 2015
Incredibly dumb, Mortdecai is a convoluted mess that barely delivers any laughs. The story follows a shady art dealer named Mortdecai who's recruited by MI5 to help recover a stolen painting that contains a secret inscription.
Starring Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Bettany, and Ewan McGregor, the film features an impressive cast and their performance aren't bad. But the script is terrible, and the farcical comedy falls flat; as the bumbling characters and their antics just come off as remarkably lame and stupid.
A one note joke that doesn't work, Mortdecai is a poorly made film.
