Review of Mortdecai (2015) by Prentice S — 27 Sep 2015
I don't think "Mortdecai" is a comedic masterpiece, but I did find myself laughing a lot more than I initially expected. Johnny Depp, Ewan McGregor, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Paul Bettany round out a great ensemble cast that paints Depp as an art collector turned spy, working for a British spy agency.
The sex, the debauchery, and the hilarity play out like a James Bond film with a maverick as the lead, rather than a master-class spy. It's not the best comedy of the year, but I'd certainly see it again if I were given the opportunity.
