Review of Mortdecai (2015) by Liam C — 23 Jun 2015
A great cast wasted. This may go down as one of the least funny comedies ever made with top-tier acting talent. It's not a bad concept -- a "spoofy," farcical take on old, mannered, British, 1960s capers.
Johnny Depp's Mortdecai character isn't even a bad character, he's just not very well-written. His jokes -- the whole film's jokes actually -- fall flat 90% of the time. I guess it's not unwatchable if one doesn't expect to respond to the film with anything but an occasional, "Heh, that's an interesting predicament he's in now.
".
