Review of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997) by Edgar T — 15 Aug 2010
I don't know how to rate this. I understand the goofballness within it but itâ??s one of the most watchable and enjoyable movies I own.
The plot is barely stable and sometimes flat out ambiguous. The usage of some of the characters that don't directly revolve around the story leaves a bit to be desired. The special effects are often bad and you'll notice it a bit more if you watch this film on a high definition television or computer. The delivery on some of the lines are noticeably awkward and there are a few glaringly bad filming errors.
On the flip side. I think the fighting is well choreographed, the music is good, the characters are loveable and the pacing is on the better side.
If I were to rate this from the stand point of a person who is looking for a good movie because it has a feasible story, proper character usage, good special effects, no technical errors, consistent character portrayal etc. than I might give this film a one and a half or two stars. But if you sit back and have fun with this movie, depending on who you are, your preference, or how you're are effected by goofballness; this film might fall in the so bad its good. Or you might even like the film not because itâ??s so bad its good, but because you just like it.
I'm gonna rate it by how I like it. I'm going to give it like a four out of five. I'm honest about how biased I am and I love this film despite its flaws. Hell, Its flaws make it kinda cute.
This film is pure cheese. But good cheese like mozzarella, not crap cheese like American cheese (I kinda like American cheese).
