Review of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997) by Nathanbo — 09 Jun 2015
What can can one possibly enjoy from this.
Kitana: Mother, you are alive!
Sindel: Too bad you will be dead!
If the dialogue isn't ad enough, this film completely killed the lore and intrigue of the first film. Within the first five minutes they just go ahead and kill one of the beloved main characters of the first film. I think I could choreograph better action and the special effects are the worst that have ever existed. There is literally a scene where both the protagonist and the antagonist turn into claymation dragons that fight each other. Robot Chicken has higher quality stop motion animation than this movie. All the actors from the beginning were strapped to wires, as everyone is just unrealistic flying and punching through the air in a way that would only make Joel Schumacher proud. Ten minutes in and you want the film to end. I'm surprised I sat through the whole thing. I can honestly say this is the worst video game to film adaptation. Uwe Boll needs to step up his game if he wants to claim the title.
