Review of Mortal Kombat (1995) by Peter P — 25 May 2011
When the makers of Mortal Kombat first wanted to make a video game, they actually wanted to make the main character JCVD, but he refused to be a part of it, so they decided to make a game anyway, (so if you thought Jonny Cage was biting JCVD, well, he was) and Mortal Kombat was born.
Who knew that it would later get turned into a movie, and as far as martial art video game to movie translations go, it is actually a decent movie. The fights are ok, and although some of the effects look incredibly dated, it is still a ton of fun to watch, and any time you get to see Christopher Lambert be cool on film it is worth a watch.
