Review of Mortal Engines (2018) by Ben C — 29 Dec 2018
The plot was kinda manic and unfocused, and I thought they got a little too wrapped up in the special effects and let the world-building aspect die on the vine a bit. I'd say all of the characters were paper-thin other than Hester, too.
I also thought the integration of the main plot with the Shrike-Hester subplot was a little haphazard and clunky. That subplot was actually the best part of the movie story-wise, but it didn't really fit well with the kind of basic story surrounding it.
