Don't understand the negative reviews. It's a fantasy movies and as such delivers. Great special effects and some thought provoking ideas. The plot resolved well enough at the end but it needs to be remembered this is only story one in the trilogy (which is well worth reading whether you area child or not). Hera Hilmer was convincing and certainly much better acted than the early Harry Potter movies.

Overall, this is an adaptation of a children's fantasy novel and as such delivers with a lot of entertaining special effects.
