Review of Mortal (2020) by Tvjerry — 03 Mar 2021
Nat Wolff plays an American backpacker in Norway, who can affect people and the environment. He doesn’t know where the powers came from or how to control them, but every time he gets stressed things get broken, burnt or dead.
The story starts in one direction and takes 2 plot turns before the final reveal. In the interim, there’s lots of mystery and flashy special effects, not to mention the spectacular scenery of the fjords.
The story’s slow burn (pun intended) keeps the tension up and even though the relationship that develops is trite, it adds a personal level to the action. A sci-fi mystery that’s completely compelling and pretty cool.
